A dental inlay or onlay may be recommended by your dentist if you have a cavity that is too large to be treated with a filling. These restorations are typically used to treat significant damage to teeth towards the back of the mouth. An inlay is for repairs that lie within the cusps of a tooth, while an onlay is used when the damage extends over the top of these and onto the outer surfaces.

Make an enquiryInlays and onlays are usually made from either porcelain or a composite material (much the same as that used for white fillings). These materials offer great protection to the existing tooth and form a strong, durable, natural-looking solution. Every inlay or onlay is individually created at a dental laboratory, using dental impressions taken by your dentist at your first appointment. As well as being used for new repairs, dental inlays and onlays can also be used to replace existing, unattractive metal fillings.
